Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find frequently asked questions about the BWXT Scholarship Program. Additional information can be found in the Guidelines documentation. 


When can I apply?

The BWXT Scholarship Program will accept applications from January 29, 2024, to March 15, 20234 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. 


What materials do I need to apply?

Students should be prepared to provide a personal essay, standard contact information, college application/acceptance information, work history (if applicable) and an overview of extracurricular and/or personal activities. Written letters of recommendation, résumés and submission of SAT/ACT scores are optional. Guidance counselors and a parent or guardian must also complete a task on behalf of the student before the application can be submitted. To achieve these steps, students will need the name and email address for both parties. 


How do I apply?

To apply, you must create an account. To do so, select "Log In" in the upper right corner and create a new account. Please note, you should provide an active email address as you will be asked to validate your information. Returning users do not need to establish a new account.

All questions should be addressed to scholarships@bwxt.com.


When will I be notified of the selection decision?

Applicants can expect to be notified of a scholarship award in June. However, applicants can log on to the application portal at any time to check the status of his/her application.


How can scholarship funds be used?

The award may be used to pay for tuition, books, lab fees, room and board or other educational expenses.


What happens if a scholarship recipient fails to meet the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement?

If a student's GPA drops below the minimum requirement of 3.0, is not considered in good standing with the school, or fails to continue in school full-time for the entire academic year without interruption barring illness, emergency or military service, the student is no longer eligible for the program and all remaining funds will be forfeited.
